Yes. Borderlands 3 supports cross-platform play across PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Mac, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. Crossplay runs through SHiFT Matchmaking, and players are prompted to enable it and create a Crossplay Display Name when they first launch the game.

Borderlands set the template for a loot-shooter, arguably giving rise to the likes of Destiny and its sequel, and while Borderlands 4 is out as of September 2025, Borderlands 3 remains a popular title – not least because it offers plenty of mayhem and diverse character-building potential for a fraction of the price.

That makes it easier than ever to squad up with friends for co-op sessions (or even playing the entire campaign), but can you play alongside players on other platforms through cross-platform play? Or are you stuck with a smaller pool of players? We’ve got you covered.

Borderlands 3 cross-platform support at a glance

Borderlands 3 supports crossplay across these platforms:

Yes, PlayStation, Xbox, Mac, and PC players can all play together in Borderlands 3.

How Borderlands 3 crossplay works

Borderlands 3 uses SHiFT Matchmaking for crossplay. When you first launch the game, you’ll be asked whether to enable or disable crossplay and to set a Crossplay Display Name. That display name is required for SHiFT Matchmaking functionality.

If you want a simple setup walkthrough, it works like this:

  1. Launch Borderlands 3 and enable crossplay.
  2. Set your Crossplay Display Name.
  3. Use the game’s social tools and SHiFT systems to connect with friends.

Players can also change that display name later through the SHiFT website or through the Social menu in Borderlands 3.

Does Borderlands 3 support cross-save?

Crossplay and cross-save are not the same thing. Borderlands 3 supports full cross-platform multiplayer, but progression transfer is more limited.

You can move between some versions within the same console family, and there is limited transfer support between Steam and Epic on PC. That is not the same as full cross-platform cross-save.

Why some older Borderlands 3 crossplay guides say no

Some older Borderlands 3 guides are outdated because the rollout happened in stages. In 2021, crossplay support launched without PlayStation. Later updates added PlayStation crossplay on PS4 and PS5 with other platforms.

That is why older pages may still treat PlayStation as an exception even though the current answer is yes.

These gaming accessories are heavily discounted for Prime Day, and I’d buy them myself
After reviewing countless gaming products over the years, these are the Prime Day deals that impressed me the most.
Computer, Computer Hardware, Computer Keyboard

As someone who spends a good chunk of my day gaming, testing gaming hardware, and reviewing everything from monitors and headsets to mice and controllers, I'm always keeping an eye out for genuinely good deals. Over the years, I've used and reviewed hundreds of gaming products, which has also taught me that not every Prime Day discount is as good as it looks. Some products are discounted for a reason, while others become genuinely compelling purchases once the price drops. After digging through this year's Prime Day offers, I've narrowed the list down to gaming accessories that I'd actually recommend to friends and fellow gamers. Whether you're looking for a massive display to transform your battlestation, a tournament-ready controller, or a premium wireless headset, these are the deals that stood out because of their performance, value, and the amount of money you're saving.

GTA VI finally gets a price tag and a no-disc rule for physical edition
It will be a single-player experience when it lands on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19th.
Poster for GTA 6 game.

Rockstar Games has finally confirmed the asking price of its highly anticipated game, Grand Theft Auto VI aka GTA 6. The game is going to cost $79.99 in the US for the standard edition, and if you're willing to plonk extra cash on the Ultimate Edition, you will have to part ways with $99.99 per copy. Pre-orders for the game are starting today, June 26th, at midnight, and you will be able to reserve a copy for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X.

The asking price is definitely on the higher side. However, it's still below the $100+ speculations that were floating just a few weeks ago. By PC and console gaming standards, $80 as a starting price is still quite a high fee. So far, only Nintendo has been able to sell games with a similar price tag and has courted plenty of backlash for it, as well.

Instead, your own smartphone becomes the entire interface, and you receive phone calls that ring straight through your actual device mid-game.
