Netflix just dropped a trailer for Devil May Cry Season 2, one of the best animated shows on the platform right now, and it’s everything fans have been waiting for. The show returns on May 12, 2026, roughly a year after the first season landed in April 2025.

Season 1 garnered a lot of attention, thanks to its sharp character designs and outstanding visuals. Under the showrunner Adi Shankar, the same creative force behind the acclaimed Castlevania series, the show’s quality was evident. Season 2 was greenlit within a week of Season 1’s release, and the new trailer makes it clear why.

What does the Devil May Cry Season 2 trailer reveal?

The trailer wastes no time raising the stakes. A standout moment shows Dante asking Vergil, “What did Mundus do to you?” followed by a glimpse of the two brothers clashing. The sibling rivalry between Dante and Vergil is one of the most appreciated storylines across the entire Devil May Cry franchise.

Their bond was shattered after a demon killed their mother, Eva, leaving both brothers to cope with tragedy in entirely different ways. Dante held onto his humanity while Vergil turned toward darkness, eventually falling under the influence of Mundus. Seeing that conflict finally play out on screen is a major moment for longtime fans of the games.

Who are the villains in Devil May Cry Season 2?

Season 2 is setting up not one but two major antagonists. Arius, the mustachioed head of the sinister corporation Uroboros and the primary villain of the Devil May Cry 2 video game, was teased in the Season 1 finale and now takes center stage.

Mundus, the original big bad from the first Devil May Cry game and the demon who corrupted Vergil, also appears in the trailer. Both Dante and Vergil are sons of Sparda, the only demon powerful enough to stand against Mundus. That legacy makes the upcoming conflict hit even harder.

Between the brotherly conflict and two major villains in play, Season 2 looks set to be the show’s most ambitious chapter yet.

The Boys season 5 is out, and the show continues to be a documentary of modern America
Truth isn't much stranger than fiction in The Boys season 5, and that's saying something
Chace Crawford (The Deep), Antony Starr (Homelander), Nathan Mitchell (Black Noir) in The Boys season 5.

Even though The Boys is filled with super-powered people in capes, the show has never felt more like real life than with the release of season 5. Set a year after Homelander (Antony Starr) took over America and unleashed an authoritarian regime, The Boys season 5 shows the protagonists rallying together to find a way to kill the evil Supe.

The Boys has long satirized American society and politics, addressing issues such as misinformation in the media, corporate influence on politics, and fascism disguised as patriotism. The Boys' official X account has even joked that the show is a documentary rather than a satire.
