Update: We’ve updated the article to reflect LG’s official G6 Plus announcement.

The LG G6 is considered to be one of the best phones of the year so far, and for good reason — it’s well-built, features decent specs, and has a nice design. Now, LG has launched a new version, the LG G6 Plus, that’s even better.

Here’s everything we know about the LG G6 Plus.

Specs

The LG G6 Plus isn’t all that different from the G6. It shares the same IP68 certified, ultra-compact form factor as its predecessor; the same 5.7-inch IPS LCD screen (1440 x 2880) with a 18:9 resolution; and the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and 3,000mAh battery. The only things that have changed, in fact, are amount of RAM (6GB versus 4GB) and storage (128GB versus 32GB).

But uniquely, the G6 Plus supports Low Power Consumption mode, a feature of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 that makes use of Google’s Contextual Hub Runtime Environment (CHR) and LG’s All-Ways Aware hub to collect data from the device’s sensors continuously without impacting performance or battery life.

And the LG G6 Plus ships with new software that will come to the original G6 later this year. A facial recognition mode called Face Print lets you unlock the phone in less than a second. It’s tipped to feature LG’s payment platform, LG Pay, and Covered Lense, a feature that alerts you when you’ve covered the camera lens before taking a photo.

In terms of other hardware, though, it’s more of the same. The LG G6 Plus boasts the same dual 13MP cameras with optical image stabilization, phase detect autofocus, high dynamic range, dual-LED flash as the LG G6. And the 5MP selfie shooter, fingerprint scanner, and Bluetooth radio haven’t changed, either.

The LG G6 Plus comes in blue and gold, the former of which has a lenticular coating that produces a shimmering effect when you view the phone from different angles. And buyers get an added bonus: A pair of Bang and Olufsen earphones that take advantage of the phone’s 32-bit Quad DAC.

Release date and availability

LG hasn’t announced LG G6 Plus pricing or availability, but it’s expected to be more expensive than the original G6 — potentially $890, according to Korean outlet ETNews. While these prices have yet to be confirmed, we expect it to be pricier than the original LG G6.

The LG G6 Plus is also tipped to launch pretty soon, with the same report noting that they could ship in South Korea on June 27. All three major carriers in South Korea, including KTF, LG Telecom, and SK Telecom, will offer it.

I can’t live without iPhone shortcuts. These 7 are my favorites that you must try, too.
I've been using these 7 iPhone shortcuts for years, and they've completely changed how I use my phone.
iPhone showing shortcuts app

The iPhone Shortcuts app reminds me of Minecraft. It might be relatively easy to jump into, but it offers nearly limitless potential, allowing you to build anything you want. The same holds true for the Shortcuts app, and that endless possibilities are what many iPhone users might find intimidating. But you don't have to.

If you are new to iPhone shortcuts, think of them as little automated helpers. You can build them yourself or find ones that others have built and use them. And that’s the beauty of shortcuts. If you don’t want to get your hands dirty, you can find shortcuts others have created and tailor them to your needs.

Gemini Intelligence has strict requirements, and your phone may not qualify
Gemini Intelligence

Google’s new Gemini Intelligence platform is quickly becoming one of the biggest talking points in the Android world right now. After being highlighted during this week’s Android Show, the feature is already being tied to several upcoming premium foldables and flagship phones. But there’s a catch: not every high-end Android device will be able to run it. And surprisingly, even some of Google and Samsung’s latest foldables may miss out.

According to Google’s requirements, Gemini Intelligence isn’t just another software update you can casually push to older devices. The company appears to be building this around a much stricter hardware and long-term software support system. To qualify, a phone needs a flagship-grade chipset, at least 12GB RAM, support for AI Core, and Gemini Nano v3 or newer. That immediately creates a problem for several current-generation phones.

Meta’s Ray-Ban Display now types messages from your finger movements
Neural Handwriting is a really cool feature, but Meta opening the Ray-Ban Display to developers is the quiet announcement that turns a clever wearable into a platform with immense possibilities.
Meta Ray-Ban Display and EMG Band.

Six months into its life, the Meta Ray-Ban Display is starting to look less like an experiment, thanks to what is arguably the most significant update Meta has ever pushed for the device.

The headline feature is Neural Handwriting, which is now available to every Ray-Ban Display owner, having spent its early months in limited access for Messenger and WhatsApp users.
