Motorola’s Razr Fold is official, and it undercuts the Galaxy Z Fold 7 by $100

The Razr Fold isn't just Motorola's first book-style foldable. At $1,899.99, it's a direct statement that Samsung no longer has the premium Android foldable market entirely to itself.

After teasing it at the CES 2026 in January and formally revealing the phone at the MWC in March, Motorola has officially launched the Razr Fold today, on April 29, 2026. It’s the company’s first book-style foldable that competes directly with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

The Motorola Razr Fold will be available for pre-orders starting May 14, 2026, via the company’s official website and Best Buy. Sales commence May 21, 2026, in line with a previous rumor. The foldable’s price is set at $1,899.99. Motorola has also confirmed that carrier availability at T-Mobile, Xfinity Mobile, and Verizon will follow in the coming months.

What does the Razr Fold offer for the price?

Motorola’s Razr Fold arrives with a long spec list. First and most important, the phone features an 8.1-inch 2K LTPO OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 6,200 nits. You also get a 6.6-inch pOLED cover screen that is capable of 165Hz of refresh rate and 6000 nits of peak brightness.

Under the hood, the foldable runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC, paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of storage. Like Motorola’s other smartphones, the foldable also ships with a stock version of Android 16, offering the smooth and familiar display that regular smartphone users are accustomed to.

The company has equipped the Razr Fold with a 6,000 mAh battery, which is by far the largest in any book-style foldables. It also supports 80W TurboPower wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

How do the cameras stack up?

There’s a triple 50MP camera setup on the back, which includes a Sony LYTIA main sensor at f/1.6 with OIS, a 122° ultrawide sensor with autofocus and macro capability, and a Sony LYTIA 600 periscope sensor that offers 3x optical zoom and up to 100x hybrid zoom, with OIS.

While the cover screen sports a 32MP front-facing camera, the inner screen has a 20MP selfie shooter. Video tops at 8K at 30 fps. Additional features include stereo speakers by Bose (with support for Dolby Atmos), Moto Pen Ultra stylus support, IP48/49 ingress protection rating, and availability in two colors: Pantone Blackened Blue and Pantone Lily White.

Motorola’s next budget phone leaks in two Pantone colors with a 200MP camera in tow
The Moto G87's 200MP camera is a genuine headline upgrade, but pairing it with a lower-tier chipset than its predecessor, at a higher price, is a combination that sounds disappointing.
Motorola Signature

The Moto G87 just made its clearest appearance on the internet, thanks to tipster Evan Blass. He has dropped high-quality renders of the upcoming Motorola mid-ranger on X (formerly known as Twitter), giving us our best look at the device ahead of its official launch.

Given the price leaks last week and the renders today, it looks like the Moto G87 is gearing up for an imminent European launch, likely within the next few weeks. For now, the renders showcase the phone in two colors: dark gray or what the company might call Pantone Overture Gray, and a cyan/bright blue colorway called Pantone Blue Atoll.

Motorola Razr Ultra

Motorola’s new Razr Ultra 2026 feels like the company is leaning harder into the fashion side of foldables. The phone still has the familiar compact flip design, but this year’s finishes make it look less like a regular smartphone and more like a style piece that happens to open into a full-sized flagship.

Is this the prettiest Razr yet?
