Queen fans, rejoice! The band Queen released a new app, Queen: Play the Game, that allows fans to win prizes by playing quizzes and puzzles, all while exploring the band’s history. Queen: Play the Game is the classic rock band’s first official app, created by SoshiGames, and its now available on the App Store and Google Play.

SoshiGames, a company that focuses on making games for some of the world’s biggest bands, worked very closely with Queen’s management team to create the game. In a statement, Cliff Dennett, CEO of SoshiGames said, “It was very important for us to be able to use only official Queen imagery and the band’s incredible portfolio of music.” The game offers high-resolution images from Queen’s archive and re-sampled sounds from the band’s hottest hits.

Players can test their knowledge of the band, solve puzzles, unlock artwork, and discover new music. Players get to choose the type of puzzle and win Queen merchandise in monthly competitions. The first competition ends on June 30, and the prize includes a mini Freddie Mercury statue. In order to be eligible, players must reach a certain level within the game. For example, the first competition will be open to players who have achieved two stars.

Queen: Play the Game covers the history of the band, from the early days to the release of the band’s first album Made in Heaven. SoshiGames promises to release new puzzle packs, game modes, art content, and more on a bi-monthly basis, so fans will always have something new to explore.

Queen are taking a break after a jam packed 2014 schedule, during which we saw the release of Queen Forever. The compilation featured unreleased tracks. Although Mercury passed away in 1991, American Idol contestant Adam Lambert served as the frontman for a 24-date North American tour.

At the time, Lambert told Rolling Stone that filling Freddie’s shoes is impossible. “I think a lot of the apprehension has faded because we’ve done this a number of times in the past couple of years. That’s not to suggest I’m getting cocky at all because I will never compare to Freddie Mercury,” he said. “He’s one in a million. At this point, I know how to strike a balance between honoring the way these songs were originally meant to be sung and my own instincts, my own choices.”

The band will return to the road this September for several South American shows. In the meantime, you can play the new game and relive all your favorite moments from Queen.

"Hey Siri, create a shortcut for me that snaps a picture of my food, logs the nutritional value, and then reminds me to burn calories after six hours. Please?"

For years, the Shortcuts app on the iPhone has remained one of the most frustrating parts of the user experience. On one hand, it's an utterly powerful app to create automations and perform multi-step tasks in a jiffy. However, the process of creating a shortcut has been pretty complicated and almost a test of patience.

It appears that Apple has finally listened to the feedback of iPhone users and is planning to give a major functional overhaul to the Shortcuts app with the release of iOS 2027. As per  Bloomberg, Apple will finally let users describe the exact shortcut they want, in natural language, and the AI will create it for them.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 deal

Samsung’s foldables have consistently led the market in polish and software, but one complaint has followed the Galaxy Z Fold series for years: battery life. Now, a new leak suggests Samsung may finally be addressing that issue with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8, alongside camera improvements and a thinner design.

According to a report from Greek publication TechManiacs, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could pack a larger 5,000mAh battery - a notable jump from the 4,400mAh cell used in the Galaxy Z Fold 7. If accurate, this would mark one of the most significant hardware upgrades to Samsung’s book-style foldable lineup in years.
