What’s happened? You can now get genuine repair parts for the Google Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro from the iFixit website. However, the cost of parts has changed significantly in comparison with the prices of Pixel 9 and 9 Pro parts – with some getting more expensive.

  • Compared to the Pixel 9 Pro, a replacement screen for the Pixel 10 Pro has increased by $37.
  • The replacement screen on the Pixel 10 is $20 more than the Pixel 9 screen.
  • This increase is because the screen panels on the new devices are brighter.
  • In comparison with the Pixel 9 Pro, back glass replacement for the Pixel 10 Pro has increased by $7.
  • The replacement back glass on the Pixel 10 also saw a $30 increase.
  • This rear glass cost increase is due to the addition of Qi2 magnets and a larger camera cutout on the Pixel 10.

There are price drops too: It’s important to familiarize yourself with the cost of repairs for your device. This will help you better budget yourself when taking your Pixel 10 or 10 Pro in for repairs. Here are the genuine repair parts for the Pixel 10 and 10 Pro that got cheaper:

  • In comparison with the Pixel 9 Pro, battery replacement for the Pixel 10 Pro saw a $10 price reduction.
  • The replacement battery on the Pixel 10 also saw a $10 price reduction.
  • In comparison with the Pixel 9 Pro, rear camera replacement for the Pixel 10 Pro saw a $60 price reduction.

Price freeze: Meanwhile, prices for some parts haven’t changed year-on-year.

  • In comparison with the Pixel 9 Pro, front camera replacement for the Pixel 10 Pro stayed the same at $59.99.
  • The replacement front and rear-facing cameras on the Pixel 10 stayed the same as its predecessor, at $59.99 and $159.99, respectively.

Why should I care? Accidents happen, and our phones are prone to drops, impacts and collisions. There’s a chance you’ll need to seek a repair for your smartphone at some point during its lifetime – although we hope this doesn’t happen.

  • Transparency on the cost of replacements parts at least gives us an idea of how expensive a repair might be.
  • With screen and rear glass costs going up for the Pixel 10 series, we’d recommend investing in a protective case and screen protector.
  • If you’re looking for a recommendation, this thin Pixel 10 Pro case is our favorite.

Okay, what’s next? If you are looking to repair your Pixel 10 or the 10 Pro, you can access the Google service repair manual for Pixel devices. This will give you access to the repair manual as well as the Bill of Materials for various Google Pixel devices.

  • Note: carrying out your own repairs could invalidate your warranty, or lead to other issues with your device. If you’re unsure, we’d recommend seeking professional repair.

Bold new colors could make Sony’s next flagship feel fresh, if the price doesn’t kill the buzz
Electronics, Mobile Phone, Phone

Sony’s Xperia phones have rarely looked boring, but they’ve often felt too reserved for their own good. The latest Xperia 1 VIII leak changes that, with official-looking images showing Sony’s next premium phone in shades that actually want attention.
