What’s happened? We might get to see the Samsung tri-fold phone later this month. The device is tipped to make an appearance at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, which will take place in the southeastern city of Gyeongju, South Korea, between October 31 and November 1.

  • According to industry sources who spoke to Korea Times (via Phone Arena), Samsung is lining up its multi-folding phone for its debut in just a few weeks.
  • The unveiling of this device will be a milestone for Samsung’s R&D team.

Why is this important? Over the past few years, the design of smartphones has constantly evolved from one phase to another. When it comes to folding devices, the next phase of evolution is triple folding. Huawei has already shown this with its Mate XT Ultimate.

  • Samsung will take the competition to Huawei with its upcoming tri-fold phone.
  • This coming device will pave the way for more OEMs to roll out their takes on multi-fold devices.
  • The upcoming Samsung tri-fold phone will be a solid option for those looking for more screen real estate on their smartphone.

Why should I care? Earlier reports claim Samsung could limit production, allowing the brand to observe how consumers react to the device, enabling them to make necessary adjustments. The Huawei Mate XT retails around $2500, so it is safe to expect the coming Samsung tri-fold phone to sell for around that, if not more.

  • Following its unveiling at the APEC summit later this month, Samsung might release the tri-folding phone before the end of the year.
  • Another report claims the US is earmarked as one of foldable phone’s launch markets.
  • Since Huawei doesn’t retail in the US, this might be the only tri-fold device to retail here.

Okay, what’s next? We praised the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 for having reached “peak design” in the foldable industry. Now, Samsung is looking to add one more hinge and a larger screen to its foldable lineup.

With expectations for an iPhone Fold from Apple next year still lingering, Samsung is preparing to set the bar even higher in the foldable industry.

The Xperia 1 VIII leak finally gives Sony some swagger
Bold new colors could make Sony’s next flagship feel fresh, if the price doesn’t kill the buzz
Electronics, Mobile Phone, Phone

Sony’s Xperia phones have rarely looked boring, but they’ve often felt too reserved for their own good. The latest Xperia 1 VIII leak changes that, with official-looking images showing Sony’s next premium phone in shades that actually want attention.

In a crowded high-end Android market, the first impression now has to work harder. Sony’s next phone still needs the usual flagship strengths, but a sharper visual identity gives it a better chance of standing out.
